Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri

I chose this star because although it is not one of the brightest stars in the sky, it is the closest star to the sun. Because of this it is a very probable target for interstellar exploration. It is also the setting of many science fiction pieces of work. It is likely to be a part of a triple star system with Alpha Centauri A and B, leaving its orbit to be greater than 500,000 years.
