Hydrogen Peroxide Lab

In class today, we we able to complete the calculations for a lab labeled the Hydrogen Peroxide Lab. In the lab, we were given the information for the data table and were then able to carry out the necessary calculations. It asked for the mass of the two substances used in the lab, Potassium permanganate and Hydrogen peroxide. It also asked for the mass of Hydrogen peroxide used for all of the KMnO4.

Molarities in Stoichiometry

Earlier this year we went over stoichiometry and how the equations work. Last chapter we learned what molarity was and the equation for that. In this chapter we get to combine the two by adding the molarity equation into our stoich problems.

Dilutions

So far in this chapter we have gone over multiple different things, including dilutions. In a dilution you start with a product (A) and end with the same thing (A).

There is an equation used when trying to determine a missing piece in a dilution problem. In the equation, The Ms stand for the molarity, and the Vs stand for the volume.

Lab Day

This week we completed a lab where we were able to see the dilution of water and food coloring as you added more and more water. My two partners and I were able to observe the lab and watch as the color became less and less prominent. Throughout this lab we learned about concentration, solutes, and solvents.
